Choir, Band Present Christmas Concert

Notre Dame College’s annual Christmas concert has become a wonderful tradition at the South Euclid, Ohio, campus. For many years, the voices of the NDC Choir have filled Christ the King Chapel with Christmas joy. This year, for the first time, the band and instrumental ensembles will join the choir for a joint performance to be held in the Regina Auditorium at 7 p.m. on Friday, Dec. 9.

Members of the Notre Dame community as well as the general public are invited to this special celebration of the holiday season. The free concert will feature an innovative format that mixes choir with band selections, highlighted by select ensembles throughout the program. Even the audience is invited to add its voices at the end of the program.

“This year's program continues NDC's longstanding tradition of a Christmas concert with a couple of new twists added. In addition to the band and choir joining forces, our increased numbers have necessitated moving our performance to the Regina Auditorium,” said Sr. Karita Ivancic, assistant professor of music and theology. “It should be a wonderful evening of music featuring a variety of classical and popular Christmas songs.”

The evening will end with desserts and refreshments in the Regina Gym.

“We are honored to take part in continuing the tradition of the Christmas concert and expanding its format to include an exciting synergy of musical efforts between the choir and band programs,” Director of Bands Bill Neater said. “Through our partnership in music we hope to provide the campus and community with a program that is both enjoyable and uplifting for the holiday season.”
