After a successful 10-year run at the helm of the Notre Dame College Men's Basketball program, Kevin Bille has resigned, and one of his former assistants Tim Koenig has been named the third head coach in the history of the program.

Koenig, a native of Richmond Heights, Ohio, spent six years as an assistant under Bille at Notre Dame from 2006-2012. He was hired in 2006 as a part-time assistant coach, before becoming the head junior varsity coach in 2008. He was named a full-time assistant in 2009.

Notre Dame College and its in-residence Mercury Summer Stock Theatre will present three musical performances: Shrek, Ragtime and Peter Pan in June, July and August, respectively.

Shrek, based on the DreamWorks film about an unsociable ogre, runs June 14-16, 20-23 and 27-29. Ragtime, which paints a nostalgic and powerful portrait of life in turn-of-the-century America, is July 5-7, 11-14 and 18-10, and Peter Pan, a tale of the boy who never grew up, will be August 2-4, 8-11 and 15-17.

Notre Dame College will host the opening of the 16th consecutive season of The Cleveland Shakespeare Festival’s outdoor performances with the troupe’s debut of “Measure for Measure” June 14 and 15 and “The Two Gentlemen of Verona” June 21 and 22.

Nearly 40 local, state and regional─as well as student, faculty and staff─artisans will market their wares at the annual Art on the Notre Dame College Circle fair Saturday, June 22.

The College, in partnership with the City of South Euclid, will host the juried art and craft show from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. on the lawn outside the campus Administration Building. The event is free and open to the public.

Two master’s degree and two bachelor’s degree candidates were honored for their leadership in and out of the classroom and their service to and in support of Notre Dame College during 2013 commencement ceremonies.

Laura Jean Camino, who received a master’s degree in professional education, and Izolda Masic, one of the first to graduate from the College with a master’s degree in security policy studies, received St. Catherine of Alexandria Awards during the graduate ceremony May 4.

Notre Dame College will award its highest honor, the 2013 Notre Dame College Medal, to its original founders: the Sisters of Notre Dame.

In honor of their ministry through the College, in the region and around the world, the Sisters of Notre Dame─who will be represented by the Chardon, Ohio, Provincial Superior Sister Margaret Mary Gorman; Superior General Sister Mary Kristin Battles; and Assistant General Sister Mary Shauna Bankemper─will receive the honor during a dinner ceremony at 6 p.m. June 1 on the Notre Dame campus.

Notre Dame College students are setting the standard for how intelligence agencies understand and exploit social media in analyzing international security incidents─and they are sharing their best practices with regional terrorism and criminal justice experts.

Notre Dame College (NDC), in partnership with the City of South Euclid, is calling for artists to present their works in the third annual Art on the NDC Circle.

The event is free and open to the public from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturday, June 22, and is part of a weekend of fine arts at the College that includes theatrical performances by the Cleveland Shakespeare Festival and Mercury Summer Stock Theatre.

Notre Dame College’s international, educational travel destination for 2014 will be the birthplace of Picasso and flamenco dance─Spain─and the world’s once-greatest maritime empire─Portugal.

Next year’s spring break trip, February 27 through March 8, 2014, will feature the modernist architect Gaudi’s famous cathedral, La Sagrada Familia, and nightlife in the Catalonia capital of Barcelona, the Prado museum in Madrid and a gothic cathedral and medieval synagogue in Toledo and the Roman ruins of Merida, all in Spain.

The Notre Dame College Department of Performing Arts Indoor Ensembles continued their dominance at WGI (Winter Guard International) World Championships over the past two weekends. WGI is the international sanctioning competitive organization that represents the final and highest level of competition in the Indoor Marching Arts activity for units across the globe.
