The Notre Dame College Indoor Colorguard is entering its first year of WGI competition.

NDC’s Indoor Colorguard is entering its first year of Winter Guard International (WGI) competition and will participate in the WGI Regional in Cincinnati, Ohio, on March 3; the Midwestern Color Guard Championships in Muncie, Ind., on March 24 and 25; as well as WGI World Championships in Dayton, Ohio, on April 11 to 14. It also competes in the Ohio Indoor Performance Association (OIPA) and the Mid-East Performance Association (MEPA).

The guard is proud to present “There is Always…,” a challenging and uplifting program that interprets how words can lead to angst, conflict, depression and violence.

“The guard will take on the challenge of battling those words, those feelings and those actions that hurt,” said Director of Bands William Neater. “We are proud to present a challenging and uplifting interpretation of an issue that intersects everyone’s life in one way or another.”

The guard is led onto the floor by caption heads Douglas Edens and Brandy Viol. The instructional staff consists of Vanessa Borelly-Vega, Laura Buker and Alicia Collier.

Notre Dame’s Indoor Percussion Ensemble enters its second year in WGI competition with original musical composition by NDC Caption Head John McFarland. Titled “Unplugged,” the program tackles the intertwined world of computers and humans.
