NDC Hosts First Annual Nursing Student Conference

Notre Dame’s Division of Nursing will host its first annual Nursing Student Conference in the Regina Hall auditorium on Tuesday, Oct. 19 from 4:30 to 6:30 p.m.

The conference features keynote speaker Katherine Slaughter, RN, MSN, a clinical risk manager at University Hospital’s Case Medical Center. It aims to address best practices in the nursing field that contribute to a culture of safety. Students will deliver presentations that focus on safety principles, improving health outcomes, and safe patient care advocacy.

Seniors in Notre Dame’s nursing program will discuss policy issues concerning quality of care and safe healthcare delivery. Juniors will address the National Patient Safety Goals, while sophomores will identify factors that create a culture of safety and caring. The students will also produce posters illustrating patient safety issues.

The conference is sponsored by Johnson and Johnson. It is free and open to the public.
