Shakespeare, Juried Art Show Come to Campus

Shakespeare, Art Show Come to Campus

As summer arrives this year, the picturesque Notre Dame College campus will be the stage for two weekends of Shakespeare as well as the College’s first-ever art show fest.

The 2011 Cleveland Shakespeare Festival will kick off its 14th season with two performances of Othello, Shakespeare's classic tragedy of ambition, betrayal, jealousy, and love, at Notre Dame College on Friday, June 17 and Saturday, June 18.

The following weekend, Love's Labour's Lost will be performed on Friday, June 24, and Saturday, June 25. This is not the play you're expecting to see, but a unique re-telling of the Bard's classic romantic comedy. This radically abridged and gender-reversed adaptation is not for the purist, but not to be missed.

All performances begin at 7 p.m. and are scheduled to take place outdoors on the lawn in front of the Administration Building. Bring a blanket or lawn chair and enjoy Shakespeare under the stars. Admission is free. For more information go to http://cleveshakes.org/ or contact Jacqi Loewy at jloewy@ndc.edu.

Art on the NDC Circle, Notre Dame College’s first-ever art show fest, featuring paintings, ceramics, jewelry and much more, will take place at NDC’s Quinlivan Circle in front of the Administration Building on Saturday, June 25, from 10 a.m. to 7 pm, and Sunday, June 26, from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. Presented in collaboration with the City of South Euclid, this juried art show features many beautiful and unique items for sale. The show is open to the public and admission is free.
