Notre Dame College Student Appointed to National Athlete Advisory Committee

Notre Dame College women's basketball student-athlete Celine Mangan has been appointed the Mountain East Conference representative on the NCAA Division II National Student Athlete Advisory Committee.

Mangan, who is completing her sophomore year, was selected by the NCAA out of a number of nominations to represent the MEC on the national committee. She will attend NCAA meetings in Indianapolis and also the annual NCAA convention held in January each year.

Division II National SAAC members serve as student-athlete liaisons between the happenings on campus, conference and national levels. Each representative is responsible for gathering feedback and reporting out on behalf of their conference, as well as relaying important events, hot topics and educational information to both the campus and conference levels. In addition to relaying information across campuses and conferences, Division II National SAAC speaks on the behalf of the entire Division II student-athlete body throughout the NCAA governance structure.

"It is a huge honor to be selected to represent the student-athletes from the Mountain East Conference," said Mangan. "I am really looking forward to working with the other representatives to make the Division II student-athlete experience the best it can be. I am also looking forward to learning and gaining ideas that can be brought back to the MEC and also to Notre Dame College."

"I am very happy for Celine as her coach.  It is a great opportunity for her and I know she will flourish in this role," said Head women's basketball coach and co-SAAC advisor Katie Hine. "I believe Celine carries out the mission of Notre Dame College, and she can help the MEC carry out the mission of NCAA Division II athletics on a national stage."

"To have a Falcon student-athlete selected to represent the Mountain East Conference is an honor for her, the Athletic Department and Notre Dame College," said Director of Athletics Scott Swain. "Celine will do a fine job representing Notre Dame College and the MEC on the national committee."
