Notre Dame College Takes Top Prizes in St. Patrick's Day Parade

Notre Dame College marched and floated its way to top prizes in the 2013 St. Patrick’s Day Parade.

The College marching band and color guard has been honored as the best school music ensemble participating in the procession March 17 in Downtown Cleveland. The band played versions of Irish American anthem “Danny Boy” and an “Irish Party in Third Class” from the Titanic movie soundtrack, among other selections.

The Notre Dame float, a replica of the S.S. Rhein, which honors the arrival of the founding Sisters of Notre Dame from Germany, was awarded second prize among floats in the parade. Sponsored by the Campus Activities Office, the float was built by the Maintenance Department staff.

The theme of Cleveland’s  St. Patrick’s Day Parade 2013 was “Coming to America: The Story of Irish Immigration.”

Notre Dame and other prize winners will be recognized at the 2013 St. Patrick's Day Parade Award Banquet on April 14 at the Irish American Club East Side.
