College Reinvigorates Advancement and Alumni Relations

Notre Dame College’s Advancement and Alumni Relations Offices have undergone a change in leadership, and the College is pleased to welcome three new members to the operation.

Mary Elizabeth Sokol Cotleur ‘98 has returned to Notre Dame to serve as the director of alumni relations and associate director of advancement. Since graduating from the College, she has worked for University Hospitals of Cleveland and also the Playhouse Square Foundation.

Also joining the office staff is Karen Poelking who will serve as special assistant to the president for institutional advancement and community outreach. Poelking has been a fixture in the College community since joining Notre Dame in October, 1980. In her 26 years at Notre Dame College, Poelking has held positions with the College staff, faculty and finally as an administrator, serving as vice president of adult recruitment and enrollment services. Poelking, who continues as vice president will assist in building relationships with alumni and in the Greater Cleveland community.

Finally, the College welcomes Sue Piatt as the associate director of advancement. Piatt is a skilled advancement professional who brings a wealth of knowledge in several key components of institutional advancement. Her career has included positions in non-profit organizations such as the Girls Scouts of Lake Erie Council and Laurel School in Shaker Heights, Ohio where she spent 10 years in the Office of Development and External Affairs. She has experience with gift stewardship, grant writing, fund raising, alumni relations and communications.

As Notre Dame College continues to build its Alumni Relations Office, Cotleur, Poelking and Piatt join a team committed to developing programming and fostering channels of communication which will continue to facilitate alumni interaction with the College and with one another. This will enable alumni to remain actively engaged in promoting the welfare of Notre Dame College and ensuring that its mission is carried forward into the future in the spirit of the Sisters of Notre Dame.
