Notre Dame Receives $3 Million in New Gifts

Notre Dame has received two gift commitments, totaling more than $3 million, in the past six months.

This brings to four the number of major gift announcements the College has made—each $500,000 or more—and to more than $4 million the amount in gift commitments made to the College in the past year.

Notre Dame announced in April it has received $1 million from an anonymous donor to support its athletic programs, and near Christmas, the College unveiled a $2.1 million gift—the largest contribution in its 90-year history—from Normandy Catering for student programs and building initiatives.

The anonymous commitment to support athletics is earmarked for the creation of an all-surface field on the College lawn, facing South Green Road, which will accommodate football, lacrosse, soccer and rugby. This is one of two projects on campus involving athletic fields this summer.

Normandy Catering’s commitment of $2.075 million over 10 years to the College includes $1.75 million in cash earmarked for the Notre Dame's annual fund, student financial aid and support of the College’s general building and construction initiatives. There is an additional $325,000 in-kind component to the gift.

In addition to these recent commitments, the College received two anonymous $500,000 gifts last spring and summer, one in support of its nursing program and one in support of campus buildings and construction.
