Christ the King Chapel - A Family Affair

Justin R. Noetzel and FamilyHistory sometimes has a tendency to come full circle, and in the case of Christ the King Chapel, this circle encompasses many families connected to Notre Dame College as alumni and friends.

A plaque hanging in the sanctuary provides a poignant reminder of all those who supported the project. Included are family names that read like a history of Notre Dame College itself: The Family of Therese Buettner Hummer ’46 and Harlan Hummer; Stella Corbett Hetzer ’59 and John Hetzer; The McGuigan Family, led by Ethel Jones McGuigan ’48; Mr. Justin R. Noetzel and Family in memory of Frances A. Noetzel ’41.

The McGuigan Family, led by Ethel Jones McGuigan '48Without the support of these families and the many other alumni and friends of the College, the Renewal of Christ the King Chapel would not have been possible. Through their generosity, the College was able to repair the delicate stained glass windows, re-finish the pews and build a new altar and ambo from the Chapel’s communion railing. Their gifts honor and remember mothers and fathers, husbands and wives who passed on their cherished faith and preserved the spiritual heart of Notre Dame College.

The Renewal of Christ the King Chapel would not have been possible without the generous support of many alumni and friends. Notre Dame College is thankful for all who made this worthy project a success. All donors to this project will be recognized in the 2008-2009 President’s Report & Honor Roll of Donors publication.
