This course will survey a wide range of psychological principles and research findings that have been applied to the criminal justice system. It will encompass both the contributions of the more basic psychological fields (i.e., the area of Law and Psychology) and the more applied psychological fields (i.e., the area of Forensic Psychology). Topics will include expert witnesses, lie detection, police psychology, correctional psychology, police lineups, false memories, juries, and investigative psychology/ psychological profiling. Students will read and discuss textbook chapters, original research articles, and case studies, and relate them to each other. Prerequisites: none (Program goals 4, 9, 10)
