Nick Formica's Bio

Hi, my name is Nick Formica and I am an Assistant Director of Admissions/Academic Support Center Counselor here at Notre Dame College. I grew up in Willoughby, Ohio where I attended Willoughby South High School as part of the class of 2002. From there, I studied at Lakeland Community College where I was an Academic All-American and a nationally ranked golfer. I then transferred here to Notre Dame College where I majored in Marketing with an English minor. I first began working at NDC as a student assistant coach for the women’s and men’s golf teams. In 2008, I started working as an admissions counselor. I love the job I have because I have the pleasure of working with some really great students. Seeing the students succeed inspires and motivates me to be the best version of myself that I can be.

Interests: Golfing, reading, cooking, spending time outdoors, and hiking with my dog

Fun Fact #1: I was a member of the very first Men’s Golf team at Notre Dame College.

Fun Fact #2: I have traveled to 8 different countries.

Fun Fact #3: I once wrote a rap about NDC that I set to the beat of Empire State of Mind.

Why I love NDC:
Notre Dame College is all about the people. We have a tight-knit community. Even though we are all from different backgrounds and have to take different paths to get here, we all unite by having the same purpose and goals. I have traveled around the country and the world and have still never experienced another place like NDC. The campus is like an ecosystem in which every person has a purpose which is equally important.

I attended Lake Catholic High School, Class of 2001. After high school I chose to further my education at Notre Dame College where I majored in Information Systems. When I was a student at NDC, I had the opportunity to play on the first men’s basketball team in the history of the school. I was also part of the first class of men to attend Notre Dame College. The college was all female up until 2001. I chose NDC because it felt like home and I had the unique opportunity to help build what the college has become today.

Hailing from Cleveland Heights, Ohio I fell in love with Notre Dame College in 2001. Being the eldest of 4 girls I am usually the designated trailblazer and being a first time college student was no different for me. Despite looking at other schools in the area and out of state I found that my visit to NDC was the one that stuck with me the longest. I enjoyed my experience and my interaction so much I decided to attend in the fall of 2001. Majoring in Psychology with minor studies in literature I spent much of my time involved on campus in the Black Scholars program, working with resident/student life singing in the choir and working as an ambassador all the way up until graduation in 2005. After graduation, having spent time in the field of education and behavior health I recently chose to come back to NDC as an Admissions counselor. With my current territory being the Cleveland Metropolitan School District and charter schools along with the North Western Counties of Ohio in addition to 47 of the 50 states I am committed to helping my community and the students I serve. I’m in the office daily so feel free to contact or visit me.

Interests: Writing, singing, teaching Sunday School and Bible classes to children, painting.

Fun Fact #1: I am a Bible Scholar.

Fun Fact #2: I love whales, orcas specifically, as well as dolphins.

Fun Fact #3: I was one of the first Student Ambassadors for Notre Dame College.

Why I love NDC:
I love NDC because I love how much we care about students. If I had a son or daughter, I would feel confident that they would be taken care of the way that I would as a parent. They would be cared for and treated in the best way.
