Welcome to the Office of Professional Development! Our department offers flexibly scheduled face-to-face and online courses covering a broad range of topics for those who want to attain or maintain certificates or licensure in a particular field, learn new job skills or simply want personal enrichment.

Coursework for Educators

Founded 90 years ago, Notre Dame College has a long tradition of teacher education. We continually review and update our teacher education programs with new courses to strive to offer professional development that informs teachers about emerging technologies, pedagogies and interpersonal relationships that are Circle Button so important to have when working with students, families and administrators.

Fall 2016 Catalog for Educators

Fall 2016 courses for educators seeking licensure renewal and building skills are now available. Click Here to view the Fall 2016 Catalog for Educators courses. Courses run September 12 through December 10, 2016. Classes will be available on campus and online. Courses will be available in technology, common core, classroom management and much more.

Register today with Instructional Delivery Services (IDS) for on campus classes (registration form in link below). Notre Dame will also be offering online classes. Click the blue button. At the Course Catalog page, click on the Technology catalog to register. In addition to the Notre Dame online courses there are other online opportunities through Teacher Education Institute (TEI). See their link below for a list of courses.

Please note that you do not register for IDS or TEI courses through Notre Dame College but directly with them. Click on their links below for more education. Also, do not use Internet Explorer while trying to view or register for classes as you will not be able to do view pages.

Educational Partnerships

Notre Dame College is partnered with a number of organizations to provide quality and relevant professional development for educators.

  • World Instructor Training School (W.I.T.S.)

    Notre Dame College, in partnership with World Instructor Training School (W.I.T.S.), offers a 9-week personal training certificate program that prepares individuals for careers in the fitness industry.

NEW CERTIFICATE PROGRAM

Small Business Initiative Certificate

The Office of Professional Development at Notre Dame College announces a new Small Business Initiative Certificate program designed to provide business owners with a review of the fundamentals in communication and in technology to work smarter and gain a competitive edge.

This non-credit, four course, six session program will be held this summer on the Notre Dame College campus. Courses are $79 each and dates are as follows:Small Business Initiative Catalog

BUSINESS COMMUNICATIONS – June 14  6:30-8:30 p.m.

DATA MINING: HOW TO START MAKING MORE MONEY! – Part 1 offered June 22 and Part 2 offered June 29 from 6:30-8:30 p.m.

COMPUTER MAINTENANCE: AVOIDING THE BLUE SCREEN OF DEATH – Part 1 offered July 7 and Part 2 offered July 14 from 6:30-8:30 p.m.

DOING BUSINESS ON AND THROUGH SOCIAL MEDIA – July 19 6:30-8:30 p.m.

NEW PROGRAM - Teacher Leader Endorsement

Notre Dame College in collaboration with Instructional Delivery Services is now offering a Teacher Leader Endorsement program

Notre Dame College’s Teacher Leader Endorsement is tailored to meet the needs of the working professional educator. It is designed for the teaching professional that desires a larger leadership role in improving the delivery of instruction. The teacher leader will be instrumental in supporting and mentoring teachers, especially the four year residency candidates, as well as leading school improvement initiatives, assisting school administration with professional development activities and other collaborative leadership efforts. Additionally this endorsement will help to qualify educators for the Lead Professional Educators License, the highest qualification of Ohio’s 4-tiered licensure structure.

Entrance Requirements for Teacher Leader Endorsement:

  • Current Ohio educator license
  • Completion of master’s degree
  • Four years of successful teaching experience

4/5 Endorsement

Reading Endorsement

The Notre Dame College Reading Endorsement prepares teachers to support the reading needs of all students in grades PK-12, whether they are struggling or gifted readers. Principal Licensure Program

Educators interested in a career as a school principal or administrator can obtain the necessary coursework by enrolling in this 8-course (24 credit), online endorsement program. Educators must have a Master’s degree and current teaching license as well as other requirements to begin the program.
